New Release DVD Movie Review

Our recommendation: you must see "Miss Potter" Movie
(web site)

A beautiful story about a real life of Beatrix Potter, a famous female author. An independent woman and her dream! Why not we can do whatever to reach our dream like her!?

Summer 2007!
Woman at Beach

We bet some of you have summer plans to be on vacation! For example, Williamsburg, VA? Do you know that Jamestown, VA celebrates its 400th anniversary? Some families rather attend this special celebration instead of spending it at the beach! Life is short and there’s much history to absorb in a short time!

A brief note: we sent our heartfelt condolences to Gina Olivia for loss of her hubby with a nice card and flowers from us, DWC in whole. In October 2005, she came to Connecticut as our excellent presenter in a workshop about writing and publishing a book.

As you remember a recent issue about Sex and Power, several articles appeared lately about Queen Hatshepsut on the Hartford Courant. (See the Hartford Courant web site to search specific dates; June 28th and June 29th. With regret you may need to purchase a fee for archive over 30 day old articles). Her mummified body is finally recognized, thanks to one tooth that………..!

We are gathering information about Deaf women leaders in CT. Please send us photos, stories and information you believe you know some deaf women leaders. Please visit our DWC blog to add your comments if necessary or desired. We hope you are brave enough to join in the DWC blog to share your stories and comments.

In last Spring 2007 issue, we hope you enjoyed reading "Menopause". For your information, some deaf women contacted us to let us know they enjoyed reading an excellent "tea leaf tale" very much . Here is the video for fun (no captions) and the women may be menopausal.

We will host our annual family picnic on August 18, 2007 at the Sears Parks in East Hampton. Please contact us about what food you will bring for potluck. Sears Parks is a beautiful park with a nice view of the lake for swimming, relaxing and breathing fresh air. Please bring your own lawn chairs, and sports equipments such as volleyball, ping pong, or Frisbees. We are inviting a guest speaker, Sandra McGee to give us some ideas on what is going on about the upcoming Connecticut Association of the Deaf conference. (Barbara Cassin is one of two guest speakers we invited but she tentatively planned her vacation on that date. However she will let us know whether she will make it.) Some people asked about bringing their dogs. Yes you can bring your own dog but be sure to put the dog on lease at all times and to be responsible for your pet’s waste products.

We would love to ask you to reconsider joining as members by helping support DWC and as program coordinator or assistant program coordinator that are currently still vacant at this time.

Summer Beach
A Woman Laying on Chaise at beach

Laying on a chaise,
Moving a face toward the sky,
Closing two eyes,
Feeling hot skin,
Smelling ocean,
And
Dreaming like flying everywhere.
~CM

Enjoy your summer! We hope to see you on August 18th at our annual summer gathering at Sears Park!

Most DWCly yours,

Cassandra, June and Alice
